Hannah had an assignment last week to make an American Flag out of things from the house. Here is what she did.... twizzlers for the red strips, cotton balls for the white stripes, blue paint and then marshmallows for the stars. She had a lot of fun doing it! But what impressed me most was when I asked her questions... "How many stars are there on the flag?"..."Why are there 50 stars?"..."How many stripes are on the flag"... "Why are there 13 stripes?"...."What do the colors stand for?"... she knew all the answers!
When we took her flag in to school, we had a chance to see what everyone else had done. It was fun to see all of the different things that people had used! Someone even made their stripes out of red and white Christmas tree garland!
Hannah is loving 1st grade!
