The Blue and Gold Banquet...

The word "banquet" always conjures up images of a fancy or extra special gathering. Tonight the Cub Scouts in our ward had their Blue and Gold Banquet and let me tell you, there was nothing fancy about it...but it WAS extra special!

The theme was "Jurassic Park". Volcanoes were found on the food table:

check it out, you can even see the steam rising from the volcano...watch out, it's gonna blow!

There was also:

*the Flintstone car to ride around in:

crazy driver...get out of the way!

*food cooked over the fire pit:
Haylee looks on in concern as Hannah gets her dinner ready

*a "prehistoric" wall to climb:
wall climbing is one of those things that looks so easy...until you try it!

*dinosaurs eggs to transport back and forth in a spoon:
one of the girls, with a steady hand, makes it back to the finish line

The boys earn badges or belt loops which are then awarded at the monthly Pack Meeting. This month those awards were given to each boy in an exceptionally cool paper-mache dinosaur egg!
how in the world did the award get in this thing??

After each boy received his award he then got to dig for another dinosaur egg which held a mini dinosaur and a chant. The boys performed these chants which were all dinosaur related.

It was so much fun! All of the boys and their families really enjoyed themselves! A big Thank You needs to go to this group:
the fearless leaders of the D2 Cub Scouts!

They did a fantastic job with this pack meeting. Every last detail was perfect! I know everyone appreciates all the time and effort put into tonight...I think the boys will be talking about this one for a long time!

The flinstone car is awsome! I need to make one. We have a hill in our backyard. I can just see the excitement/terror of going down the hill in it.
